    2007 Bike Park Suggestions

Well the snow is still quite plentiful on Mount Washington, but with the Outdoors show behind us, it seems fitting to look forward to the summer season on the islands only lift accessed trails. For those who have ridden before, we'd like to pass forward suggestions to the bike park crew as to what riders would like to see more or less of in the future.

To help get you started - select your most important choice for the future

What would you like to see more of in the bike park

    • Long flowing trails such as Scratch & Sniff (50%)
    • Big Jumps such as Big Brother (25%)
    • Slopestyle course (25%)
    • Beginner and skills progression areas (0%)
    • Total Votes: 4

    Thanks

Personally as far as building wood structures on Washington goes, I would rather see less quantity and more quality. Some of the structures up there look like they were built by kids, and after 2 seasons are already falling apart, loose boards etc. Lose the roofing shingles and skidoo tracks.

I would like to see more trails in the trees between the ski runs. Hitting big booters all day doesnt do it for me.

I have been pushing for that for years and agree in full.  Booters are nice, but the epic long descents are where its at.

All of the above, I would personally like to see the Slopestyle course up earlier in the season, I like the Idea of a "Training area" and I think tree'd descents (It's nice to break the monotiny of jump, berm, jump, jump, berm.)are a good idea. I think overall better maintenance as well, Though I realize they are short staffed.

I think a bit of both, some steep and technical DH and a jump trail but loads more jumps than they have currently, also having an experienced jump builder on staff would be great  as some of those jumps were accidents waiting to happen ( steep short landings on long tabletops and inconsistent take offs)  It woud also be good to have a night or 2 with the chair running until 8-830pm ( last run up at those times ) for some  after work action. Well thats my rant.

I vote Jeff for Prime Minister. He said everything I was going to say. He just forgot to specify gap jumps when he said more jumps.

Oh and also Johnny good call on the July slopestyle not Sept.

saw the suggestions and had to join up.
would be nice if they stayed open a bit later, make use of the summer. The season itself is so short. Leading into maybe staying open til mid October.  snow pending I know

    CONSISTANT JUMPS!!!!!!!
no weird takeoffs and landings. Quality over quantity.

Open new trails a little earlier. Evil eye great trail, loads of fun.

More maintenance. The mountain is going to have to cough up a little more cash to the bike budget.

There is a whole lot more mountain up there than the hawk side, USE IT!!!!!! Techy decents natural lines. It is there.

I live in vic, I dont mind the drive, I got up there 14 days last year. Comped and payed split 50/50. Maybe some some early bird savings on a buying a season pass.

Hire more experienced staff. The staff up there the last couple of years have been friendly and fun. But the mountain needs more experienced people in the way of builders.

I am not knocking the builders up there as they were doing great work just maybe build it properly once and end it. The work from beginning to end of last year in terms of quality improvements was fantastic! The maintenance crew with working with what they had did great. Props to them all

MT WASHINGTON RESORT!!!!! Listen to this forum and listen to the riders dont blow us off. If you dont step it up you will get bypassed. I think this mountain can do great things it just has to want to.

ps  The marmot thing, extinction happens, deal with it, dont replace it.

that is my two cents for now I have had
months to think about this stuff

I think the mountain needs to add a few more trails which are properly built the first time, by some builders who know what there doing and leave the trail maintence to the present staff who dont have a clue about building trails that flow . I know the dirt is not the best, too rocky in some spot but you should be able to do something.the mountain needs to step it up if they want to be people to come up there. they  just need to spend the dollars

most likely the same one they have been using up till now. Monster Mile - with a few of the updates to reduce pedal sections.

Would be nice to get a dh course over on the Hawk to reduce the slow lift access for practice...

    Re: 2007 Bike Park Suggestions

I think that is a great idea. I love the present race course. It is a true DH in every sense of the word. But I look over at the Hawk side and see wide open fast euro type terrain. Don't know how many techy rock spots can be found but maybe it is time to slice open the finger for some more terrain. How many people ride that anyway? You could have a fairly long open course if you went that way and wrapped around where evil eye empties out. I don't mind a pedally section or two on a dh course as long as it doesnt translate into a hill climb.
