We recently went to Cumberland for some riding and stayed at http://www.cumberland-gardens.ca/gardens.html.
I have travelled the world staying in dirtbag accomodations. I have lived in squats, and have recently moved into better digs (as a result of a patient wife who has helped guide me away from becoming the next mad max or Kaczynski).
I have never written a poor review but I want to guide people away from this B and B.
The challenges...

The breakfast consists of two pieces of bread from the super-market(not local bakery), some jam and a few pieces of melon. The jam is good, but hell this is what I eat everyday. Normally at a B and B you would get an actual breakfast (juice, hot coffee, some baked goods etc). Thank goodness, there are some great coffee shops nearby to get some additional grub or you would starve.

The basement (where you stay) has an incredibly strong musty smell. In other words, there are some definite mold and water issues. My guess is the toilet seal is gone and the toilet is collapsing through the floor (because you can actually see the rot of the plywood under the toilet and it leans heavily to one side). Otherwise, they have a very large project waiting for them.

The basement is reminscent of a third world rooming home instead of a B and B

The bed squeaks like crazy. I know you all think we were probably getting it on, however, that would be impossible as the bed is on wheels and with one thrust the bed would fly through the adjacent wall. The bed actually squeaks from the movement of one's breathing
-
The backyard is taken up by a huge tent and there is no where to lounge or relax
-
At night the room is drafty
From what I have heard both the Riding Fool and Crooked Chimney B and B are fantastic alternatives.
On the other hand, maybe I was just un-lucky and Cumberlands gardens can be fantastic. However, I am not a yuppie and for the price this makes for a bad holiday investment.
Thank goodness the trails, local riders, and stores are so fantastic.
