Started the much needed repairs to Big Log in Cumberland today. The entry/exit is now rock and crib for longevity (probably outlast the Big Log!) and the 20ft ladder has been leveled with one new stringer and a few supports. Only 50ft to go! I'll be there with skinnyboys tomorrow (Sat 23 Feb 08) to utilize another trail day. If anyone feels like lending a hand...Be there at 11am.
I will try to stop by when I am done work at noon!
Good to see you there skifreak! Big Log is now ridable in all it's 70ft glory! Much respect must go out to Skinnyboys, and local riders and builders, Dillan and Derek who showed up and supplied some cedar slats and much needed nails! The rot has basically been bridged and all loading transfered to the ground as much as possible and the entry/exit is now crib and rock to try and retain this old legend. There's life in the old boy yet!
Hey robin
Thanks for letting Derek and I help you guys build. Hope to see you at more trail days.
No worries Dylan. Thanks again for the help and when your trail is due for some work, let us know.
TTK - Finished the rolling rock just inside the trail head today and the old plywood bridge section has been replaced. Back tomorrow for some more... Anyone know what the 3 yellow hubcaps with a 2, 6 and 7 painted on where for?
At some point there was a disc golf course in that area. I guess you were dropping wood off at the yellow gate at some point today?
Saw your work on Space Nugget. Looks good.
Thanks. Yup, that would've been me. Got given some nice fir so I thought I know where I can use that!
The old rotten logride on Tied the Knot is now much safer to ride!
Also some rockwork was done on 2naJuice.
Before..... During...... After.
I did some trail maintenance last sunday, i cleared out the bottom part of easy rider so now you don't get slapped as much from all the branches. There was a big rock on the steep hill it was right in the way its gone as well. This trail is not used alot by mountain bikers but its one i built so i maintain it.
