I WAS WRONG. The slopestyle building has begun. There are two nice looking extremely tight berms going R/L right after the initial drop-in. I assume they started designing it this way so you don't carry too much speed into the first stunt. Hopefully there is a ride around for light dudes with < 3 years experience that ride heavy bikes with flat pedals. These poor riders get totally screwed when they come out of tight berms too slow and as a result end up casing gap jumps.
The conditions tonight were AMAZING. 25 degrees, more trails and stunts opened up, virtually no one else in sight, and only two wet trails! BB is so much more fun when it is dry. I attempted to hit the final 3 jumps by the Hawk today. For some reason I was only able to hit 1 and 3 good. I had trouble with 1 and 3 last year and was only able to hit 2 consistently. I went 1/1 on the EE wallride. I hope the EE wood drops are open soon. They look fun and they should only need 2 man hours work max to be totally ready to hit. Me and my buddy from Vancouver hit the 2nd wood drop up from the Hawk today but our landings were questionable. As for wet areas, The last 1/2 of the little trail that leads to BB + W is still soaked. Easily avoidable though, just head down the road. Also, MM is still wet. This is also avoidable but only if you ride on trails that everyone on these forums know are closed such as SNS. HS and the bottom of MM are fun but still tough even though they are totally dry. I think me and my buddy hit every trail today (from 5pm - 7:30pm) except MHC and W which was closed because they are replacing all the wood on the boardwalk that goes over the swamp. In other unrelated news he told me he paid $9.50 for his pass at 5:01pm. What is up with that?
I was a bit excited about reading this on the Mt. Wash website re: Hustler - Open from the top, new section at the bottom done! Once they threw that ! on the end I was like oh man maybe they built some huge smooth berms with nice dirt. Was I disappointed. Yes! Were the berms tiny? Yes! Were the top berms built of totally crappy dirt that was full of rocks. Yes! Was the last berm built of dust? Yes. Totally lame. After the slopestyle maybe they can get Jim D and some decent dirt over there to fix up those berms!
I just noticed that my post should probably have been split up by paragraph into 3 different forums: Slopestyle, Current Conditions, and Suggestion Box. Oh well too late now.
