    Cumberland Dirt Jump Park

Just an update for any riders who might have ventured to cumberland only to find the original dirt jumps buried under over a hundred loads of dirt...

Be not alarmed, there is a plan for a builder to come work his magic when the weather gets a bit warmer and drier. Check back here to make sure you don't miss out on your chance to come help with working the jump park into shape.

I've never been to the jump park. How big is it? Are the jumps graduated so newbies like myself can work on basic small stuff and graduate up? Or is it more for experienced dirt jumpers only?

At this point there isn't anything to see, but part of the plan will be to make the jumps progressive for learning.

So who will be overseeing this jump park? Where does funding and support come from?

I'm kind of excited about learning to do some beginner jumping and may be willing to help support the jump park in one form or another.

The village owns the land, and Wacor has donated a large amount of dirt. We've got a good builder online to do the initial shaping and then from there on it's going to be the volunteer work of the various people in town. A group is being organized to make sure the jumps are kept safe.

So I went by to check out the DJ park and all the dirt seems to be piles of almost shale with big rocks and I saw some scrap metal sticking out at one point...is this realy going to be a DJ park again?

Did you see what they built the slopestyle on Mount Washington out of? The builder who's offered to help has an excavator to move the material around. We can move the clay materials to one side, use the rougher materials for the bases and filling in low spots then cap it with some nice clay.

Dan, Sean, and a few others were out making some lines in the piles. Still working to get a machine to do major building.

some hard dirt but should be somewhat workable

Hopefully Jim has time to hit Cumberland up for some building before the Mountain puts him to work on the slopestyle course......I'm up for swinging a shovel if need be....
