im a big fan of the old 5 gallon bucket.  they're cheap, rarely break, and you dont have to worry about hitting the gym after packing buckets of dirt/rock all day.

yup, old ways are the most reliable ways. I quite like the folding barrow but not sure about the strength. A barrow without the front frame section exposing the front wheel would be good. The hand truck (thanks flow) work better than I thought it would as long as the trail is fairly level and the tires are pumped up well. Another idea for slats is a bricklayers backpack. Bastardize an old strong backpack and secure a wooden frame in a 'L' shape. You can then stack the slats and strap 'em in. Brickies load them up and climb ladders cause you still have both hands free, great for hiking wood in.

I walked 'Tie the Knot' today and it's well dodgy and old structures either need rebuilding or taken down. I would like to rebuild it to a moderate skill level freeride trail. There could be a few drops to transition at about 2-3' high (no gaps), another logride, a new entry to the existing logride and a couple of suprises. Nothing too dangerous or challenging but it could be a fantastic session trail for those wanting to improve their freeriding skill level. Someone's got to build 'em while you boys 'go large'. It could only be an improvement...

I rode that trail once..... key word once.  It definitely is in rough shape and needs some love.  It looks abandoned imho, and I dont think anyone would be too upset if you did some work on it.

Tied the Knot was a bit of a trail built about 5 years ago... check with Dan at DCC, but I figure no worries about rebuilding it - the storms have done some damage, but it is a nice location for some building.

Spoke to DCC and agreed that a intermediate freeride trail would be beneficial to the trail network. So to mark 'Tied the Knot's' 10th Anniversary, I will start work next week to ressurect it. The trail head will be closed off until work is complete to keep things safe and it will be ready for late spring riding. I may ask for some help at some point to complete the most labour intensive section so watch this space...

We built and rode the new logride on Tied the Knot today. Turned out well and very smooth keeping to blue square/black diamond specs. Check cvmtb facebook page for pics and video.

Me and my dad went through tied knot today. Its looking really good! We cut down some small deadfall that was in the way of the trail. We didnt cut out any of the big stuff that was part of the original trail, as we thought that you might want to work with that stuff. It looks really good.

On another note, we met the guys who are making the freeride trail by the chlorine shack. they seem like really nice guys and have a good line going through there. It seems quite well thought out and very smooth.

    go big or ...... case

Well done and thanks for the help! Should be open to ride in about 3 weeks. Fair bit still to do. It will all be just as fun as the FFR logride.

Some pics of the work so far. Check pinkbike, search 'Tied the Knot' or in the forum under "Tied the Knot freeride trail in progress" for more pics. Or just click on pics.

Might be a bit of a delay in finishing TTK on time as I have vertigo at the moment. I am very dizzy and feeling crap. Not good for someone who loves skinnies. Bear with me and the trail will be finished soon.

Bucket of Blood update for anyone that wants to know about it.  I was up there a couple weeks ago and there's still about 2 feet of snow at the top untill you get to the drop/ Skytrain area...  Also a little bit after that, there's some logging.  Nice bush whack through the logging area since none of it's been cleared out yet.  "Do not enter Area" Tape as well on the other side of logging at Broadway and the rest of Bucket.

I'd hazard a guess the logged area is the right of way for the new road?  is it only ~ 30m across?

Indeed.  The trail starts again on the other side just to the left of the stack of logs.
