TO OBTAIN/MAINTAIN ACCESS TO OUR PARKS!!!
Capital Regional District Parks (CRD Parks) protects and manages more than 10,000 hectares of spectacular and easily accessible natural areas in 30 regional parks and trails on southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

The scenery on the south Island is amazing.
These are our regional parks and trails!
CRD Parks is undertaking a management planning process for regional parks within the Sea to Sea Green Blue Belt. These parks include: Kapoor Regional Park Reserve, Sooke Potholes Regional Park, the Sea to Sea Green Blue Belt Regional Park Reserve, and Ayum Creek Regional Park Reserve, a total of an additional 12,000 hectares Here are is a map where of some of these parks we are trying to obtain access to are located.

This is our land folks. This is a vast amount of wilderness... over 12,000 hectares!!! There is a vast trail system in place and bikers have been using and maintaining trails here as long as mountain bikes have been around. Let's let them know how we want to use it by speaking up!

And the riding's pretty sweet, too.
If you can believe this... Western Canada Wilderness Committee's position is to prohibit bikes in these parks as mountain bikers often go off-trail (eg. damage to sensitive moss/lichen outcrops). They are a powerful voice in lobbying government. See their position on this area. We need to seriously educate hiking and environmental groups.
Please print off, fill out, and then fax this form to CRD. You can send The Capital Reginal District Parks your completed response form by fax to (250) 483-1976 or mail it to 490 Atkins Avenue, V9B 2Z8.
NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT! - Must be done by Dec 1!!!
If you want to see what you're fighting for, check out pictures of Sooke trails and riding. And for more information on preserving trails on the South Island, check out South Island Mountain Bike Society.
